West Shore Farmer’s Market

Press Release Thursday February 26, 2009.
by Shaun Donovan

In January of 1999, the West Shore Farmer’s Market in Lemoyne was destroyed by a fire.  This year during the 10th anniversary of the fire, the Farmer’s Market wanted to do something to thank the West Shore Bureau of Fire for their hard work and dedication.  For the first two weeks of February the market sold the re-useable shopping bags at the market, with the profits from these sales being donated to the West Shore Bureau of Fire to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the fire.    The fire was among the first alarms that were run by the newly merged West Shore Bureau of Fire, which was created in 1999 by the merger of the Citizen’s Fire Company No. 1 of Lemoyne and the Wormleysburg Fire Company.  The owner and businesses of the market were thankful for all of the services that the West Shore Bureau of Fire has provided over the last 10 years both in the response to the fire and also during the rebuilding of the current market building and for their continued dedication to the Boroughs of Lemoyne and Wormleysburg.
