Fire Alarm Goes to 2 Alarms

November 30th, 2008 by Commissioner

Saturday afternoon the Squad was dispatched to an automatic fire alarm on the 2700 block of Market St. Moments later Chief 114 was advised by headquarters they were receiving calls of fire in a wall and immediately upgraded the call to a first alarm assignment. Engine 2-13, Engine 2-10, Truck 12 and Air 13 filled out the first alarm assignment. Rescue 14 arrived first on the scene and advanced a line inside. The Squad and Engine 2-13 were the next 2 pieces to arrive. Crews investigated the first floor at the location of the report of fire in a wall. They confirmed fire but were initially unsure where it was coming from. The Squad’s crew went to the basement to discover a working room and contents. 20 minutes into the incident command 14 called for the second alarm. This brought in a second engine from the WSBF. Engine 3-13 staged with their manpower at 24th & Market and held their manpower. Half the apparatus on the second alarm staged and held their manpower and the other half staged their apparatus and sent their manpower forward to the scene to assist. After 25 minutes on the scene the second alarm assignment was released.

Thanks to Highspire Engine 55 and New Kingstown Engine 2-33 for covering our two stations.
