Camp Hill Cooking/Fairview Twp Job

January 20th, 2008 by Kevin Lubinsky

The early morning hours of Sunday, January 20th brought a near back-to-back pair of calls.  With temperatures hovering around 12 degrees, the crew started the morning at 5 AM sharp with an odor of smoke inside a structure at 8 Dickinson Ave. in Camp Hill.  The Squad arrived with CHFD and found an odor of burnt food on the second floor of a four unit MFD.  After furiously pounding on the door with no response, the decision was made to force entry.  The occupant was finally awakened, and the crew found a pan-o’meat burning on the stove.  The building was ventilated and the box was placed in service.

Once everyone had a chance to return home and get warmer, Engine 213 and the Air were dispatched on the deuces to Fairview Twp., York County for a house fire on Oak Hill Road.  Both units arrived on scene and the engine crew went to work assisting with overhaul and hose rolling on a small outbuilding (possibly a summer kitchen) that was a total loss.  The 2nd alarm was requested by Command 68 as the fire was impinging upon an adjacent barn.  As the sun rose and drove the temperatures to a spring-like 17 degrees, units were placed available.
