3 Alarm House Fire
Tuesday morning February 24th at 12:25am the first alarm was dispatched for a house fire on the first block of S. 17th Street in Camp Hill Boro. The Squad arrived first followed by Engine 2-13. The Squad crew of 6 advanced 1 line into the front of the structure and a second line to the rear of the structure simultaneously. The crew of 7 on Engine 2-13 went interior with hooks and started opening up interior walls. Truck 14 arrived behind Engine 2-13 and also worked on opening up the interior. Initial units arrived to find a large volume of fire consuming the rear of the residence. The neighboring residence was merely a few feet away, the large amount of fire in the rear of the original fire building extended to the neighbors residence. The second building was slightly damaged but it wasn’t severe. Within minutes of arrival the second alarm was requested by Command 14. This additional manpower was immediately tasked with opening up the interior and stopping the fire spread threatening to take the attic space of the main fire building. 10 minutes after the deuce was struck the third alarm was then requested for more manpower. Crews operated on the scene for a little more then 3 hours.
This 3-alarm house fire is exactly 1 year after the 3-alarm fire in the 400 block of Hummel Avenue in Lemoyne.
Thank you to Engine 2-23 and Dauphin County Rescue 37 for transferring to Co. 13’s Quarters and helping us get the apparatus back in service after the incident.
An even bigger THANK YOU goes out to Heather Fair and Ashley Freeman of the Ladies Auxiliary for cooking breakfast for the WSBF and transfer companies at Station 1.
