New Cumberland House Fire

July 4th, 2009 by Commissioner

The WSBF was responding to an auto accident on the interstate this morning just before 7 am. when and a kitchen fire was dispatched in the Borough of New Cumberland.  The Squad redirected from the accident and responded immediately to the fire and was the first to arrive on the scene with fire showing.  Engine 3-13 cleared the accident quickly and followed the Squad into the scene.  The crews from the Engine and Squad began with an interior attack.  Conditions improved in the area the crew was working however the fire had already spread to the above floors and was well ahead of them.  The crews were ordered to evacuate the structure and a defensive operation was established.  Additional apparatus was requested to the scene to assist with operations.  Chief 13 had command of the incident.

The Red Cross is assisting the victims of the fire.  The WSBF thanks the transfer companies (Co. 33 and Dauphin County 55) for helping clean hose and get the apparatus back in service.
