At 0240 hrs. the WSBF was dispatched along with Co. 14 (Camp Hill) and Squad 8 (Harrisburg City) to an auto accident with an unconscious patient on I-83 North in the area of exit 41a (83/581 split).  While responding Engine 3 was advised the vehicle may have been involved in a police pursuit out of York County and 1 patient was ejected.  Squad 13 arrived first followed moments later by Engine 3 and Squad 8.  The vehicle went over the median barrier from the northbound lanes to the southbound lanes and down an embankment.  The single occupant (the driver) was ejected from the vehicle laying unconscious in the grass on the side of the highway.  Crews secured the vehicle and assisted with patient care, the patient was flown to the local Trauma Center by Life Lion.  Engine 3 remained on scene until 0530 hrs. to assist the Pa State Police with the accident investigation.

This crash would have been a spectacular sight to see.  The vehicle left the right lane ramp to Harrisburg on I-83, ramped up an embankment and went airborne across both northbound lanes and the southbound lanes.  The landing was on the opposite side of the southbound lanes and the vehicle tumbled to a stop.

Carroll Township House Fire

January 13th, 2009 by Commissioner

Wednesday January 7th the Squad was dispatched to transfer to York County Station 64 (Dillsburg) around 1210 hrs.  While enroute the Squad was requested to the scene of a 3 alarm house fire on Ore Bank Road in Carroll Township.  First due units were originally called to the scene around 1120 hrs. that morning.  The Squad crew assisted with exterior operations on a defensive attack for two and a half hours.  First arriving units efforts were hindered by the lack of accessible water in the area.  There was a large pond on the property however the ground was too soft for fire apparatus to access the water and there are no hydrants in the area.  Multiple Tankers were needed to shuttle water to the scene.
