FF-I Certification

Congratulations to Captain Mose, Captain Shreiner, Lt. Lubinsky,
FF Kerr, FF Grundon, and FF Verdiglione for passing their FF-I Practical Evaluation this past Saturday at the HACC Training Facility.

 Pending results of the written test from Friday night these 6 members will join the list of National Pro-Board Certified FF-I Members at the WSBF.

 ** Update 8/11/08 ** Over the weekend these members recieved their certifcations in the mail. It’s official!  Congratulations Gentlemen!

Crash with Entrapment

Saturday morning around 0220hrs, the WSBF was alerted to a crash with entrapment at the 500 Block of N. Twelfth St.  The incident was the result of a police incident.  The Squad and Engine 3 arrived with a vehicle overturned.  The patient was extricated from the vehicle in just under 20 minutes.  Engine 2-21 (Creekside) established a landing zone for Life Lion but it was later determined not to be needed.  Crews remained on the scene for an hour to assist the Police Department.

Fatal Multiple Vehicle Accident

Monday morning the Squad was dispatched for a reported multiple vehicle pile up on I-83 Northbound in New Cumberland.  The accident completely shut down the north bound lanes coming out of York County.  Medic 2-85 (West Shore EMS) was first on the scene and corrected the location to be Lower Allen Township.  Fairview Township Rescue 68, New Cumberland Engine 2-10, and WSBF Squad 13 were already en route, Lower Allen Engine 2-12 and Squad 12 were added to the box.  Initial units arrived on scene to find 8 passenger cars and 2 tractor trailers involved in the incident.  A Toyota Pick up truck had triple entrapment, all three victims came out with minor injuries.  Another vehicle had 1 patient entrapped who also had minor injuries.  An SUV took the initial impact from a tractor trailer, the driver was killed on impact.  All other vehicles involved had minor or no injuries.

Crash in the 581 Construction

Friday afternoon the WSBF and Camp Hill were dispatched to a single vehicle crash in the construction zone on Rt 581 in Lemoyne.  The Squad arrived first to find an SUV overturned with no injuries.  The crew from WSBF waited for the wrecker and assisted with debri removal.
